Well... it's been quite the hiatus since my last post, so I figured it was about time for an update! We now have both of our farms running at full capacity and, aside from some troubleshooting with our equipment and the typical growing pains that accompany starting a new business (what a whirlwind the last few months have been!!!), I'm happy to report everything is going well.
To date, we've worked with 3 Savannah restaurants and 2 local caterers providing produce; we have distributed samples to a large number of potential restaurant customers; and we have also begun selling produce as a vendor in the Forsyth Farmer's Market in Savannah, GA on Saturdays from 9 AM - 1 PM for the remainder of 2017. In addition, we were also blessed to be in a position to donate over 1,500 heads of lettuce to local food pantries such as Manna House Ministries and America's 2nd Harvest of Coastal Georgia in 2016, and have continued that effort with donations in 2017 reaching nearly 700 heads already.
Now that we are beginning to move past the newness of hydroponic farming, our next goal is to figure out the best way to provide our fresh food to the citizens closest to us in Effingham County. Thanks in part to the wonderful cover article Effingham Living Magazine published in their Winter 2017 edition, we have been receiving numerous requests from around our community about where our produce can be purchased. Keep an eye out for updates as we continue to develop plans for local sales and thank you for your continued support!
